The beginnings of the company date back to 1987, when Mr. Norbert Salobir founded the company SALOBIR which was initially engaged in the production of injection moulded frames for prescription glasses.
The company grew and the need for optical services emerged. Thus, two years later, in 1989, the first optician opened in Žalec. Already in 1992, a new injection moulding plant for glasses and opticians was built in Levec which still operates today. In 1996, we abandoned injection molding technology and switched to the production of milled optical glasses, and for this purpose we bought a five-axis CNC machine tool.
In 2024, due to market competition, we ceased production and shifted our focus to sales. At the beginning, the company had 6 employees. With the growth of the company and the purchase of two additional CNC machines, the number of employees has now increased to around 35.
As production expanded, new optical stores opened in 1994, 1995, and 2003 in Koper, Celje, and Murska Sobota. The company initially operated in the former Yugoslavia, and today we are proud to say that our glasses can be found all over the world.
The main activity of the company was the production of custom plastic (acetate) eyewear. Given the complexity of manufacturing glasses, up to 30 different operations are required.
For this purpose, we use dedicated 5-axis CNC machining machines from the manufacturer CMS, designed for milling fronts, as well as other processing machines necessary for producing glasses from design to finished product.
